Program Product Development Track
Achieving New Product Introduction (NPI) Success 10:00 a.m. -- 11:00 a.m. The new product is being released from development and now the pressure is on you, in charge of manufacturing, to build and ship. The success of New Product Introduction (NPI) in the factory determines when the product is shipped and whether you can achieve the time-to-volume the product business case requires. Join Dave Shuey as he describes the best practices in bringing new products to production and how the intersection of product design, manufacturing processes, Lean Manufacturing, and Six Sigma contribute to effective NPI. Speaker Dave Shuey, Director, Americas Zone Marketing, UGS
Dave Shuey is responsible for the marketing of the UGS portfolio of digital manufacturing solutions in North, Central and South America. This includes working with customers to identify their requirements and including that input in the Tecnomatix software roadmap. Tecnomatix provides solutions across the spectrum of manufacturing, including process planning, workcell simulation, factory design and optimization, and shop floor management, interface, and reporting systems. Shuey has been involved in the implementation of software systems to support manufacturing systems over much of his career, particularly in the aerospace, automotive and machinery industries. Product Development Processes for Lean Manufacturing 11:10 a.m. -- 12:10 p.m. How do you effectively design products that support Lean production? How can waste best be eliminated from within the product development cycle itself? How can "feed-forward" and feedback loops drive customer value into products on an ongoing basis? Getting quality products to market quickly plays a critical role in winning market share. Lean has extraordinary potential to drive speed and quality into the product development process. It can help optimize everything from prototyping and solution generation, through the management of customer input within the product lifecycle, to the ability of the manufacturing process to quickly adjust to changing customer needs. This session will focus on bringing together Lean principles, the innovation cycle, deliberate customer involvement, and leadership to drive success in product development. Speaker Mike Nolte, GE Corporate Initiatives
Mike Nolte is a member of the Corporate Initiatives Group (CIG) for GE in Fairfield, Connecticut. In this position, he employs Lean principles to improve customer facing business processes across the company as part of GE's "Lean Showcase" effort. Prior to joining GE, Nolte was a consultant with McKinsey & Company, where he led a variety of strategy and operations engagements, primarily in the energy, healthcare and transportation sectors. A former U.S. Army Captain with operational experience in healthcare logistics and facility planning, Mike holds a bachelor's from the University of Notre Dame and a master's in business administration from the University of Chicago. Conference speakers, topics, and sessions are liable to change at any time. Last Updated March 28, 2007. |
