TRW Commercial Steering Systems

TRW Commercial Steering Systems a division of TRW Automotive is the market leader producing and selling commercial vehicle steering components including steering gears, pumps, linkage, and columns in North America.

PK U.S.A., Inc.

The plant is a supplier of metal body parts, chassis parts and plastic injection parts for automotive companies in the United States as well as other parts of the world. It produces 500 various current model parts and consumes over 35,000 metric tons of steel annually.

Caterpillar Inc. Large Engine Center

Caterpillar's Large Engine Center in Lafayette, Indiana manufactures the largest diesel engines Caterpillar has ever produced, the 3500 and 3600 Series Diesel Engines. The 3500 Series covers a horsepower range from 600 hp (448 kW) to 2200 hp (1641 kW), and the 3600 Series goes from 1900 hp (1420 kW) to 7,300 hp (5450 kW). Both diesel and spark ignited versions of each engine family are manufactured at this plant. Caterpillar is the world's largest manufacturer of gaseous-fueled engines. (Natural gas, methane, propane, etc., also referred to as spark ignited engines.)

Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc.

See why this plant was awarded production of the Toyota Camry! Production of the 2008 model Camry will launch in Spring 2007 introducing the Toyota Production System at the SIA plant. The Camry will be joining the production of the Subaru Legacy, Outback and B9 Tribeca.

Schneider Electric, Peru Operations

A lean manufacturing, 5S and Six Sigma philosophy fuels a wealth of improvements at this production facility, which produces electrical panelboards. Its 5S principles contributed to a 47% reduction in its medical incident rate, and lean and Six Sigma improvements resulted in 28% increase in productivity over the past three years.

IMMI

IMMI provides hundreds of products for various customers including commercial vehicle, school bus, agriculture and construction equipment OEMs, child seat OEMs, marine distributors and OEMs and child safety products retailers. Products manufactured at this plant include occupant restraint systems (commercial vehicle restraint systems, child restraints, bus and child seats) and advanced restraint systems (airbags, truck occupant restraint pre-tensioning systems).

National Starch Food Innovation

National Starch Food Innovation (NSFI) is a worldwide leader in specialty starch technology and manufacturing for the food industry. NSFI Indianapolis manufacturers over 400 corn based products. The specialized products are nature-based functional and nutritional ingredients in food innovation. Our starch products are also ingredients in pharmaceuticals, paper, corrugating, textiles, packaging, building products, and adhesives. NSFI is located on 125 acres, employs 500 employees, and ships four million pounds daily.

Allison Transmission, General Motors Corporation -- Indianapolis Operations

Allison Transmission is the world's leading producer of commercial-duty automatic transmissions, hybrid-propulsion systems, and related parts and services for on-highway vehicles, military vehicles, and off-highway equipment. The site, in total, is over 3.5 million square feet, has approximately 3,400 employees, and is ISO/QS 9000 and ISO 14001 certified.

International Truck and Engine Corporation's Indianapolis Engine Plant

International's Indianapolis Engine Plant produces the new 6.4-liter diesel engine for Ford Motor Company's F-Series Super-Duty pickup trucks. The plant is currently producing approximately 500 engines a day for Ford's Kentucky Truck Plant in Louisville. The Indianapolis Engine Plant has 1.1 million square feet of manufacturing space. The plant was named one of the top 10 plants in North America by IndustryWeek magazine in 1998. It also received the Indianapolis Mayor's Eagle Award in 1999, the most prestigious award granted by the City of Indianapolis; this honor recognizes organizations that have "soared" to new heights and made a commitment to grow and prosper in Indianapolis. The plant recently (in November of 2006) recorded its best month ever for quality at the customer.

Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing, Columbus, Indiana

Built on a reputation for excellence, Toyota is known for its quality, reliability and durability. Quality is the hallmark of Toyota's world-renowned Toyota Production System (TPS) practiced at all Toyota manufacturing facilities, including Toyota Industrial Equipment Manufacturing in Columbus, Indiana.

Batesville Casket, Batesville, Ind. Operations

A 2006 IW Best Plants winner, Batesville Casket produces more than 325 SKUs in the casket assembly plant with numerous possible combinations that can be custom ordered. Casket production is based on a scheduling system that is updated twice daily on a demand-pull system. The plant's ability to meet just-in-time demands from its customers is a testament to the flexibility Batesville has built into its assembly.

General Cable, Indianapolis Compounds

Indianapolis Compounds, a state-of-the-art ISO 9001:2000 certified compounding facility, is dedicated to the production of compounds at quality levels that set the standard for the industry. Specializing in advanced polymer research, Indianapolis Compounds has an established reputation for manufacturing innovative compounds that set the standard for purity, dispersion and performance. An unrelenting commitment to innovation makes Indianapolis Compounds a leader in the development of commercialized, high-performance, ultra-clean filled EPDM insulation and semi-conductive shield compounds for low-, medium- and high-voltage cables.

Nucor Steel Crawfordsville

As the first continuous thin-slab cast flat-rolled steel making facility in the world, the Crawfordsville, Indiana mill puts its extra experience into everything it makes. With an annual capacity of 2,200,000 tons of Hot-rolled, Cold-rolled and Galvanized products, it serves a broad range of Customers including service centers/processors, pipe and tube, construction, agricultural, electrical and others. The continuous thin-slab cast flat-rolled steel making process transforms molten metal into hot band in on uninterrupted operation. The pickling and cold-rolling operations have an annual capacity of 1.5 million and 1 million respectively. They have one of the most cost-effective galvanizing lines in the country, with an annual capacity of 375,000 tons.

Wabash National Corp.

Wabash National® Corporation is one of the largest manufacturers of semi trailers in North America. Established in 1985, they specialize in the design and production of dry freight vans, refrigerated vans, flatbed trailers, drop deck trailers, and intermodal equipment. The Lafayette, Indiana, manufacturing operations primarily produce dry van and refrigerated van trailers, ranging in length from 28 ft. to 53 ft. These operations are ISO 14001 registered and employ approximately 3,600 associates.

Cummins Inc. Columbus Midrange Engine Plant (CMEP)

Tour the world-class CMEP where the diesel engines for Dodge Ram pickup trucks are made.
