Keynote SpeakerRichard F. Dauch Executive Vice President, Worldwide Manufacturing American Axle & Manufacturing "Transitioning to Lean Manufacturing on a Global Scale at American Axle & Manufacturing" American Axle has grown from five plants purchased from General Motors in 1994 to a multi-billion dollar company with 17 factories around the world. Transitioning to a Lean Manufacturing culture across the enterprise is a critical initiative to be a globally competitive and viable company. Richard F. Dauch holds master degrees in management and in engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and a bachelor of science degree in general engineering and economic management from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Dauch's professional career is two-fold. He began a military career in 1983 as an officer in the U.S. Army. An airborne ranger, his military assignments included combat engineer, platoon leader, executive officer, battalion adjutant, and light infantry company commander. In 1992, Dauch transferred his engineering, operations and leadership abilities to the private sector, when he joined United Technologies Corporation as a business unit manager, later becoming senior business manager. In 1995, Dauch joined American Axle & Manufacturing as corporate manager of Labor Relations. In May 1996, Dauch was appointed plant manager of AAM's 3,500-plus-associate Detroit Gear & Axle Plant, with responsibility for all manufacturing operations in that facility. He was named director of Strategic & Capacity Planning in February 1998, and he was appointed vice president Manufacturing -- Driveline Division in August 1998. Dauch has served as vice president, Sales & Marketing; vice president, Financial Planning; vice president, Investor relations; and vice president, Metal Formed Products Division. Dauch served as president, Metal Formed Products Division prior to being named to his current appointment on October 1, 2005.

Szczupak is group vice president, Manufacturing, The Americas, Ford Motor Company, a position he has held since Nov. 1, 2005. He oversees all assembly, stamping and powertrain operations and engineering. This includes includes 43 manufacturing plants in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Additionally, he is responsible for Material Planning and Logistics, Advanced and Manufacturing Engineering and Ford Land. He reports to Anne Stevens, executive vice president and chief operating officer, The Americas. Prior to this assignment, Szczupak, 50, served as vice president, Powertrain Operations, where he was responsible for engine and transmission engineering worldwide and for powertrain manufacturing in North America. He held that position for four years. From April 1999 to October 2001, Szczupak was a chief engineer for Powertrain Operations, leading powertrain engineering development and strategy for all Ford Motor Company brands. Szczupak joined Jaguar in 1985 as a senior manager in advanced powertrain. He went on to serve in a number of chief engineering and management positions in Jaguar's engine operations. In his last Jaguar assignment, Szczupak was chief program engineer for Jaguar S-Type. For ten years prior, Szczupak was an engineer at Cummins Engine Co. Ltd., working on diesels and other Cummins engines. Szczupak holds a master's degree in automotive engineering from Cranfield Institute of Technology in the United Kingdom. Szczupak currently serves on the board of directors for Volvo Car Corp.

Over the years, Miley's efforts have been instrumental in bringing client/server, Internet, mobile computing and other innovative technologies into the mainstream of FedEx operations. Session Speaker C. Deep SenGupta Manager Trade & Customs Advisory FedEx Trade Networks "Don't Let Compliance Issues Slow You Down" C. Deep SenGupta is a lawyer by training and has obtained a Masters in Law (LL.M-Tax) from the University of Washington-School of Law. He was a consultant with KPMG from 1997 to 2000 and helped establish KPMG's International Trade & Customs practice in India. In that capacity he has advised several Fortune 500 clients on the international trade, customs and legal implications of their South-Asian operations. SenGupta is based out of San Francisco and has been with FedEx Trade Networks since 2002. He routinely provides assistance to companies to help them unravel the complex Customs regime affecting their import and export operations, both into the U.S. as well as on a world-wide basis.

He has introduced lean principles at dozens of companies over the years and often launches LeanSigma® initiatives for new clients. Schwartz has a widely recognized expertise in translating lean principles for business processes in manufacturing and service industries. He is currently responsible for marketing and new client development for TBM Consulting Group worldwide, and has consulted with such leading companies as Freudenberg-NOK, the Critikon Division of Johnson & Johnson and Hill-Rom Company. His expertise in streamlining and optimizing business processes makes him much sought after as a consultant. Schwartz was a senior consultant with Howell Management Corporation and was vice president of sales and marketing for Medallic Art Company. A graduate of Colgate University with a degree in mathematics, he has a master's in business administration from New York University's Stern School of Business. |
